Bags are like potatoe chips, you just can't have one!!  I love having a bag match my shoes or my clothes -- makes me feel like I have it together, even if I don't!  This week Sam features a fabulous pattern, "The Ellie Bag" by Abby Lane Quilts.

    The Ellie Bag

Sam has an eye for color and it shows in her bag.  Sam chose Fabrics from Free Spirit and Michael Miller.  We have lots of bag/purse patterns to choose from.  Come in and bring your friends and even have a bag retreat!  This past weekend some friends and I had a bag retreat with our "Bow Tucks" Bag and it was quick and fun, just like retreats should be!  Happy Sewing!  Pamie G.

    Edward and Sam

Have you been to The Quilt Haus lately?  If you are feeling tired and need some rejunvenation, come in and meet Sam and Edward, our newest employees.  As I was interviewing them, I felt suddenly younger and actually had a skip in my step.  Edward and Sam give newness to an timeless hobby and I know you will be excited to be a part of it!  Edward and Sam are the lucky ones as well.  They get to be educated with quilting knowledge from Deanne, Debbie, Dea, Geri, Laurie, Judy,  and Jo and you, our customers.  Please come in and be a part of this new decade of quilting!

Meet Edward Canavarro, 20 years old, a Junior at Texas State majoring in Interior Design and minoring in Business Administration.  Edward comes with no quilting experience but quickly jumped into a class with Dea Heller.  The world is a blank slate for Edward and if you form first impressions by a hand shake, you know that this aspiring young man will be in the news of Art and Design in the future!

Meet Sam Cielonko, 22 years old, a Senior at Texas State majoring in Fibers.  Sam has done some quilting, loves to sew, and a personality of excitement and eagerness to conquer the world of Fiberarts!  Sam's plans are to teach and continue her studies in an MBA program after graduating.

Sam and Edward are eager to meet quilters and share their knowledge of color and design and are always eager to learn something from the experienced quilters in our store!

Welcome to The Quilt Haus Blog!

The quilting industry is changing with the times and so are we!  I love that you can walk into our shop and feel the newness of knowledge and the respect of history of all different types of Quilters and Artists!  Yes, we are no longer just "quilters", the younger generation has brought a new fresh look at the world of quilting, giving it more of a "art" look coupled with traditional quilting.  It is the traditional and the new that makes quilting so exciting in this new era!

Recently Deanne, our Quilt Shop owner hired two young college students.  I have to admit I was a little jealous interviewing them knowing that one a senior and the other a junior at Texas State has the whole world in front of them.  A whole changing world in the quilt industry.   In our next post, you will meet Sam and Edward, two young college students with gleam in their eyes and an ambition to learn from our traditional view of quilting while adding their own flare to our quilting world.
