Pyrmont hotel desk
The Star Sydney, softly reviewed for a room or spa stay
You come to The Star Sydney for a Pyrmont address with two different hotel moods, a published spa and pool offer, and an easy line to Darling Harbour. This independent guide keeps to what the venue and regulator publish, then points you to a request form when you are ready to ask for dates, a room category or a spa stay.

Getting there
The airport train, light rail from Central, the ferry to Pyrmont Bay and the car park entrances, each with a route in Google Maps.
Where it is
Pyrmont, on the water side of Darling Harbour
The Star Sydney is at 80 Pyrmont Street, Pyrmont NSW 2009. The light rail stops at its door, and the ferry wharf is a short walk along the harbour.
The map stays quiet until you open it.
Two hotels, one Pyrmont address
The Star Sydney sits at 80 Pyrmont Street, Pyrmont NSW 2009, Sydney, Australia, with two hotels published on site: The Darling and The Star Grand. They share the broader resort setting, yet read differently when you are choosing a stay.
The Darling is described by the venue as “Sydney’s five star boutique hotel and urban resort.” Its published room categories are The Darling Rooms, Jewel Suites, Adored Suites, Stellar Suites and Penthouses. The venue pages we could reach do not publish a verified room count; a secondary figure exists, but this site does not print it as confirmed. If your stay depends on a particular layout, suite level or view, ask for the exact category rather than relying on shorthand.
The Star Grand publishes Superior King Room, Superior Twin Room, Premium Suite, Royal Suites, Star Suites and Penthouses. Its own page states “309 luxuriously appointed deluxe rooms, suites and penthouses”. The Star Grand Residences are also published separately as apartment-style suites, including one-, two- and three-bedroom options, but this home page keeps its focus on the two hotel choices most readers ask about first.
The Star Sydney's casino licence remains suspended (since 2022). NICC (25 September 2026): the Minister amended the Casino Control Regulation 2019 to extend the term of the manager, Nick Weeks, until 30 June 2027; 'Mr Weeks will continue to hold the casino licence for The Star Pty Limited ... allowing the casino to continue operating gaming facilities while its licence remains suspended.'
For a closer room-by-room comparison, use the rooms and suites guide before you send a request.
The spa and pool as published
The wellness centrepiece is The Darling Spa, published as being on Level 2 of The Darling. The facts available to us list 11 treatment rooms plus two couples suites, a steam room, Darling Spa jacuzzi, boutique gym and relaxation/tea lounge. Spa guests are also linked with the outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi on Level 5.
Hours need careful handling. The spa page and hotel page do not match: one set of published hours says Sun–Thu 10:00am–6:00pm and Fri–Sat 10:00am–7:00pm, while another says 9:30am–7:00pm Mon–Sun. For that reason, this site treats spa hours as variable and recommends checking directly with the spa before setting flights, theatre tickets or dinner around a treatment time. The official spa booking path is on The Star site at The Darling Spa booking page.
The pool detail is clearer for The Darling: a 25m outdoor pool on Level 5, open 8am–8pm daily and heated to 26 degrees. The Darling Gym is published as Level 2 within the spa, open 24 hours daily, with under-16s not permitted. The Star Grand separately publishes a harbour-view pool heated to 26 degrees, with The Star Grand Gym and Pool open from 6am–9pm daily on Level 5; under-16s are to be accompanied.
If water, steam and treatment time are the reason for your stay, start with our pool notes and then request a room and spa sequence together.
Pyrmont, Darling Harbour and the easy arrival
The setting is practical before it is scenic. Pyrmont gives you a harbour-side base beside Darling Harbour, with light rail, ferry and walking routes all published as part of the arrival picture. The L1 Dulwich Hill line stops at The Star, and The Star’s own transport page says light rail runs from Central Station via Darling Harbour to The Star, 7 days.
By ferry, the F4 Pyrmont Bay service stops at Pyrmont Bay Wharf and is described by Sydney Lyric as a five-minute walk. The Star also says ferries run from Circular Quay to wharves a few minutes’ walk away. Bus route 389 is listed by The Star, while Sydney Lyric lists 389 and 501. Star Express Coach services are marked temporarily suspended, so they should not be treated as part of a plan unless the venue publishes a restart.
Drivers have two published car park entrances: Main Entrance at 55 Pirrama Road, Pyrmont, and Members Entrance at 2 Edward Street, Pyrmont. The venue publishes no parking for vehicles over 2.0m. Bicycle parking is listed on Level P3 via Pirrama Road, and Uber pick-up zones are published at Pyrmont Street, by the Star Grand entrance, and Harbourside, by the Pyrmont Bay exit.
For a stay built around the waterfront rather than a car, pair getting there by light rail and ferry with a quiet look at Darling Harbour. The useful choice is often not the fastest arrival, but the one that leaves the least friction around check-in, dinner and the next morning.
Restaurants, bars and evenings without overplanning
The dining list is broad, and this site keeps it to the names and descriptions published in the facts we could verify. Signature Dining includes Sokyo, described as “Contemporary Japanese cuisine”, and BLACK Bar & Grill, described as “A classic steakhouse featuring wood-fired favourites”. Casual and harbourside options include Cucina Porto, Eat Ozzo, Harvest Buffet and Rumble, with the food court and main gaming floor venues published separately.
The bar list includes 24/7 Sports Bar, Cherry, Rock Lily, Jade Rabbit, Black Bar, Sokyo Bar and G&Tea. Some sit within the casino areas, some beside restaurants. This distinction matters if you are travelling with younger guests or if you simply prefer to keep the evening centred on dinner and the hotel. Casino entry is a physical venue matter and is separate from this independent hotel request site.
If you are shaping a two-night stay, start with the room first. Then place dinner close to your arrival time on the first evening, and keep the second evening open for a longer meal or a show if the timing suits. Sydney Lyric is published as being within The Star, on Pirrama Road, with seating configurations of 1350, 1500, 1750 and 2000 seats. Ticketing details belong with the theatre rather than the hotel request.
Use our separate guides to restaurants and bars when you want names in one place, without turning the hotel choice into a schedule.
How to use this site
This is an independent review and request desk, not the hotel’s own website. We read the official pages, regulator material and published venue information, then separate what is stated from what is not. Where a room count is not verified on an official page, we say so. Where spa hours conflict, we say they vary. Where a category is published, we use its exact name.
Start with the question you need answered. If you are choosing between the two hotels, read the full review or go straight to The Darling and The Star Grand pages. If your decision rests on a specific bed type, suite tier, pool access or treatment time, use the relevant page first, then include those preferences in your request.
The request form is for rooms and spa stays. You can ask for dates, adults, preferred hotel, published room category, interest in The Darling Spa, and any simple arrival notes. It is not a casino service and does not provide online casino play. When official booking or spa links are useful, we mark them as external; for example, the main venue site is star.com.au/sydney.
We cannot guarantee a rate, view, floor, suite or treatment time from a page like this. The point is narrower and more useful: help you ask clearly, based on published facts, so the desk can come back with options that match the stay you are trying to make.
