The Pyrmont Stay

Spa stay notes

The Darling Spa, read carefully before you book

The Darling Spa sits inside The Darling at The Star Sydney, so a treatment can be planned as a quiet half-day, a room stay, or a softer pause between dinner, the harbour and the light rail. The published details are useful, but not complete. Most importantly, the spa hours differ between official pages, so your plan should leave room for confirmation.

Where the spa sits

The Darling Spa is published as being on Level 2 of The Darling, one of the two hotels at The Star Sydney, 80 Pyrmont Street, Pyrmont NSW 2009, Sydney, Australia. If you are choosing the stay around the spa, it is the hotel to read first; our separate page on The Darling sets out its published room categories and hotel facilities without adding a room count that the pages we could reach do not verify.

The Star Sydney’s casino licence remains suspended (since 2022). NICC (25 September 2026): the Minister amended the Casino Control Regulation 2019 to extend the term of the manager, Nick Weeks, until 30 June 2027; “Mr Weeks will continue to hold the casino licence for The Star Pty Limited ... allowing the casino to continue operating gaming facilities while its licence remains suspended.”

For a spa-focused stay, the physical layout matters more than the broader complex. The spa is within The Darling, while The Star Grand is also on site. The published hotel categories across the two hotels are gathered on our rooms and suites page, so you can compare the named categories before you ask for a room. The official pages we could reach do not publish a verified total room count for the site, and this page does not supply one from secondary sources.

What the spa publishes

The spa’s own published description lists The Darling Spa on Level 2, The Darling, with 11 treatment rooms plus two couples suites. It also names a steam room, Darling Spa jacuzzi, boutique gym and relaxation/tea lounge. The same spa fact set says spa guests may use the outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi on Level 5.

Those details are enough to plan the shape of a visit. You can ask for a single treatment, a couples suite if that is the point of the stay, or a room booking that keeps the spa close. The exact treatment menu, duration and appointment availability should be checked through the official spa booking path rather than inferred here. For booking, use The Darling Spa booking page.

The spa detail in our source is marked low confidence because the fetched official pages were not wholly consistent, and because some information appears in page summaries rather than in a single complete, stable page. That does not mean the spa is absent; it means a careful booking should confirm the current inclusions, treatment availability and access arrangements before you set your day around them.

Hours: plan, then confirm

The spa hours need special care. The spa page gives Sun–Thu 10:00am–6:00pm and Fri–Sat 10:00am–7:00pm. A hotel page instead says 9:30am–7:00pm Mon–Sun. Because the official pages conflict, treat the hours as variable and check directly with the spa before arranging flights, dinner or theatre around an appointment.

This matters most if you are planning a one-night stay. A late Friday arrival may not leave the same choices as a Saturday afternoon. A Sunday departure may allow a morning treatment only if the current opening time and appointment book align. If the spa is the centre of the visit, it is better to make the treatment the fixed point and let the room request, dining time and harbour walk settle around it.

The published phone for The Darling Spa is 02 9657 8088. If you prefer to keep the planning in one place, you can use this site’s request a room or spa stay form and tell us the treatment window you are hoping for, the hotel you prefer and the dates. We do not replace the spa’s own confirmation; the request simply helps frame the stay before availability is checked.

Building a spa stay without over-scheduling

A spa stay works best when the day is kept simple. If you are staying at The Darling, you can make the treatment the centre of the afternoon, then leave time for the relaxation/tea lounge rather than placing another booking hard against it. If you want water time as well, the published spa detail says the outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi on Level 5 are available for spa guests; our separate page on the pool sets out the pool facts as published.

If you are staying at The Star Grand instead, the spa is still on site, but not inside that hotel. The Star Grand has its own published room categories and separate pool and gym details; our The Star Grand page keeps those notes apart so you are not comparing unlike things. For a spa-led visit, the choice is less about prestige and more about how close you want to be to Level 2 of The Darling.

Room requests should stay practical. Ask for The Darling if the spa is the reason for the stay. Ask for a specific published category if you already know it. If you care about a harbour side, a quieter position or a higher floor, frame it as a request, not an expectation. The hotel controls allocation, and this site should not promise what the official pages do not promise.

Around the appointment

The Darling Spa sits within a property that also publishes restaurants, bars, Sydney Lyric Theatre, parking and public transport details. For a calmer stay, avoid making every element formal. A treatment, a swim if access is confirmed, one dinner reservation and time near Darling Harbour will usually read better than a tightly packed list.

If you want dinner on site, use our restaurants guide to choose from the names and cuisines The Star publishes, including Sokyo, BLACK Bar & Grill, Cucina Porto, Harvest Buffet and the casual venues. If the evening is more about a drink before bed, the bars page keeps to the published bar names and descriptions only. The spa page should not be asked to do the work of the dining pages.

For arrival, the light rail is useful because The Star is a named stop on the L1 Dulwich Hill line, and ferries stop at Pyrmont Bay Wharf, described by Sydney Lyric as a five-minute walk. Our getting there by light rail and ferry page also notes the car park entrances and the 2.0 m vehicle height limit as published.

Booking directly, or asking us to frame it

If you already know your treatment, date and time, the cleanest path is the official site. The hotel’s Sydney hub is star.com.au/sydney, and spa appointments should be checked through the official Darling Spa booking page. Those pages are also where current treatment availability and any changed hours should be confirmed.

If you are less certain, use the request form at the end of this page. Tell us your dates, the number of adults, whether you prefer The Darling or The Star Grand, and whether the spa appointment is essential or optional. If a couples suite matters, say so. If pool time is part of the stay, say that too, while allowing the property to confirm access and timing.

This site is independent of The Star Sydney. We use the official facts we can reach, note conflicts when they appear, and avoid adding room counts or inclusions that are not published clearly. For a spa stay, that restraint is useful: it keeps the request focused on what can be checked before you commit.
