Privacy notice for The Pyrmont Stay
This notice explains how The Pyrmont Stay handles personal information when you read this site or send a room or spa request. The site is an independent review and booking-request desk for The Star Sydney; it is not The Star Sydney, The Darling, The Star Grand or The Darling Spa.

What this notice covers
This privacy notice is written for readers in Australia and is intended to sit alongside the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. It covers the information you give us through the request form, the limited technical information collected when you browse, and the way a request may be passed to a hotel or booking partner so it can be answered.
The Pyrmont Stay publishes independent pages about The Star Sydney, including the full review, rooms and suites, The Darling Spa and getting there by light rail and ferry. Reading those pages does not require you to create an account with us. If you only read the site, the information we receive is generally technical and aggregated. If you send a request, the information becomes more specific because we need enough detail to understand what you are asking for.
This site does not take online casino activity, does not offer gambling accounts and does not process casino entry. The request desk is for hotel and spa enquiries. The separate casino venue at The Star Sydney is a physical venue, and any casino conditions are handled by the venue, not by this website.
Information you give when you make a request
When you use request a room or spa stay, we may collect the details you choose to put in the form. That can include your name, email address, preferred dates, the number of adults, the hotel or spa interest you nominate, and any notes you add about room type, timing or access needs. Please do not send payment card details through the request form.
We use this information to read and respond to your enquiry, to clarify missing details, and, where appropriate, to pass the request to the relevant hotel, spa or booking partner. For example, a request about The Darling may need to be directed towards the hotel or partner able to check availability. A request about The Darling Spa may need to be directed towards the spa booking channel.
You decide how much context to include. If a preference is essential to you, say so plainly in the form. If it is only a preference, you can mark it that way. The request desk cannot guarantee room allocation, rates, views, floors, treatment times or availability; those are confirmed, if available, by the hotel, spa or booking partner.
Analytics and Google Tag Manager
This site may use Google Tag Manager to manage website tags. Tags can help us understand how pages are used, whether forms are working, and which parts of the site need clearer wording. Google Tag Manager itself is a container for tags; the tags it manages may set or read cookies or similar browser technologies, depending on how they are configured.
The information collected through analytics and tagging is used to improve the site, maintain basic performance and understand broad reading patterns. It is not used to create gambling accounts, offer casino play, or decide whether a hotel or spa request will be accepted. The request process remains separate from any browsing statistics.
Your browser may allow you to block cookies, clear stored data or limit tracking. If you do so, the editorial pages should remain readable, although some form or measurement functions may behave differently. We keep analytics use restrained because this site’s purpose is narrow: to help you read about the property and, if you want, send a considered request.
Storage, security and retention
Request information is stored only for as long as we need it for the purpose for which it was collected, including answering your enquiry, managing follow-up, keeping a record of the request, and dealing with any question about how the request was handled. We aim to keep the data set practical rather than expansive.
No website, email system or form tool can be described as risk-free. We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Those steps may include limiting access to request records and avoiding the collection of unnecessary sensitive details.
If a request does not proceed, we may still retain a short record for administrative and audit reasons. If a request becomes a confirmed booking through a hotel or booking partner, that hotel or partner will hold its own booking information under its own privacy arrangements. You should read their terms and privacy information before confirming a booking with them.
Sharing your information
We share request information only where it is needed to deal with the request, including with the hotel, spa or booking partner that can respond to the enquiry. We do not sell your request details to unrelated advertisers. We do not publish your name or request details on the site.
This website is independent. You can read more about that separation on about and about commercial arrangements on how this site earns. If a booking partner or hotel receives your information, that organisation may contact you directly about availability, rates, confirmation steps or terms. Any booking is then between you and the hotel or partner, not with this editorial site.
We may also disclose information if required by law, if necessary to protect the site, or if needed to respond to a serious misuse of the request form. We keep that wording plain because the main use of the information is equally plain: you ask about a room or spa stay, and the right party needs enough detail to answer.
Access, correction and contact
You may ask to access the personal information we hold about you, or to correct it if it is wrong, incomplete or out of date. The simplest way is to contact the editor by the email address published on this site. Please include enough information for us to identify the relevant request, such as the email address you used in the form and the approximate date you sent it.
We may need to verify your identity before releasing or changing personal information. If we cannot give access to particular information, we will explain the reason where it is reasonable and lawful to do so. If your request has already been passed to a hotel, spa or booking partner, you may also need to contact that organisation directly because it will control the information in its own systems.
If you have a privacy concern, contact us first so we can review it. You can also read the site’s terms for the broader conditions that apply when using this website.
When you use a Google Maps map or route
The getting-there page carries an embedded Google Maps map of The Star Sydney, and some pages offer route links that open in Google Maps. The map on the home page stays dormant until you choose to show it. Loading a map or opening a route connects your browser to Google, which may collect your IP address, device and browser information and the page that sent you, and may use its own cookies. Google's privacy policy governs that, not ours. The written directions work without any map if you would rather not connect.
