The Pyrmont Stay

Money note

How this site earns from a confirmed stay

You can read the review, compare the two hotels and send a room or spa request without paying this site. If your request becomes a confirmed stay, we may receive a booking commission from the hotel or a booking partner. That payment is not added as a separate reader fee.

The simple version

The Pyrmont Stay is an independent review and request desk for The Star Sydney. It is not The Star Sydney, and it is not the official hotel website. The official site is star.com.au/sydney.

We earn only when a request made through this site becomes a confirmed booking, and a commission is paid by the hotel or by a booking partner. You do not pay that commission to us. You do not enter card details on this site. The booking itself is made between you and the hotel or booking partner, after the desk has checked availability and replied by email.

This lets the editorial pages stay useful before you decide. You can read the full review, compare rooms and suites, look at The Darling Spa, or check getting there by light rail and ferry without starting a payment flow.

What happens after you send a request

The request form asks for the details needed to make a careful enquiry: dates, number of adults, preferred hotel, room style if you have one, and whether the stay is linked to a spa visit, restaurant booking or theatre night. If you are unsure between The Darling and The Star Grand, you can say that in the notes.

  1. You send a request through this site.
  2. The desk reads it and checks the practical details before replying.
  3. The desk confirms by email, including the next step for booking.
  4. If you choose to proceed, the booking is completed with the hotel or booking partner.
  5. If that booking is confirmed, this site may receive a commission.

The form is a request, not an instant reservation. It does not hold a room by itself, and it does not guarantee a rate, a view, a high floor or a spa time. Those details must be confirmed in writing before you rely on them.

Why a request desk, not instant booking

The Star Sydney has two hotels on site, and the room names are not interchangeable. The Darling publishes The Darling Rooms, Jewel Suites, Adored Suites, Stellar Suites and Penthouses. The Star Grand publishes Superior King Room, Superior Twin Room, Premium Suite, Royal Suites, Star Suites and two Penthouses. The Star Grand Residences also publish apartment-style suite names.

A request desk suits this kind of property because many readers are not choosing only a bed for the night. You may be planning a spa stay, a dinner, time by the pool, a Sydney Lyric theatre evening or a simple Pyrmont base near Darling Harbour. The desk can pass on the request in plain language, while keeping clear about what the hotel publishes and what it does not.

For example, the official pages we could reach do not publish a verified total room count across the whole property. Where a detail is not published or not verified on an official page, the editorial pages say so rather than filling the gap.

Editorial independence

A commission can affect how a website earns. It should not affect what the page says. Our editorial rule is to use published facts, name uncertainties and avoid invented comfort. If the hotel publishes a room category, opening hour or transport detail, we can report it. If it does not, we do not guess.

The same approach applies to amenities. The Darling Spa is on Level 2 of The Darling, and the published spa hours conflict between official pages, so the spa page says that hours vary and should be checked with the spa. The pool and gym pages use the published access and hours available to us. Restaurant and bar pages use the names and descriptions published in the facts we have, not a private ranking.

Commercially, a confirmed booking may support the site. Editorially, the page still has to help you decide whether the stay suits you. If it does not, the honest answer is useful too.

No card details on this site

This site does not take card details in the request form. You should not put card numbers, security codes or other payment details into the message box. If a booking is available and you want to continue, payment or guarantee details are handled by the hotel or booking partner, not by this website.

The desk reply is sent by email. Keep that email, because it is where the practical points can be checked: dates, hotel, room category, spa interest, and any request such as a harbour side or a high floor. Requests can be noted, but they are not promises unless confirmed by the hotel or booking partner.

If you are ready to ask, use the request a room or spa stay page and include the dates you can travel, the hotel you prefer if you have one, and any spa or theatre plans that affect timing.

Your dates, our desk

Send your dates and whether you want The Darling, The Star Grand or a spa stay; the desk confirms availability and the current rate by email, usually within one working day. No card details here.

Nothing on this site costs the reader anything: when a room or spa request sent from here becomes a confirmed stay, the hotel or the booking partner pays us a commission.

Received. The desk will email you the room, the spa options and the rate.
