About The Pyrmont Stay
The Pyrmont Stay is an independent hotel and spa request desk for readers considering The Star Sydney at 80 Pyrmont Street, Pyrmont. You are not on the hotel’s official site, and you are not speaking to The Star. The aim is quieter: to read the published details closely, date them, and help you ask for the right stay.

What this site is, and what it is not
The Pyrmont Stay is written as an independent guide to the two hotels on site: The Darling and The Star Grand. It is not owned by The Star Sydney, The Star Entertainment Group, The Star Pty Limited, the NSW Independent Casino Commission, Sydney Lyric or Foundation Theatres.
The pages are designed for a reader who wants a room, a spa stay, a pool morning, dinner, a show night or a clear sense of how the address works before making a request. The editorial line is deliberately narrow. We cover published room categories, The Darling Spa, the Level 5 pool details where the hotel publishes them, restaurants and bars named by the venue, Sydney Lyric, Darling Harbour and the light rail.
We do not present gambling as a reason to visit. The casino is a physical venue within the property, and Australia bans online casino play. Casino entry is restricted to guests aged 18 years or over, with ID requirements handled by the venue. The responsible gambling page is kept separate for readers who need that information.
How facts are checked
Every concrete detail on this site is taken from published sources available to us, with a preference for The Star Sydney’s own pages and the NSW regulator’s public notices. Where a detail comes from a secondary source, it is labelled as such or left out. If the hotel does not publish a figure on the pages we could reach, we say that rather than filling the gap.
Room counts are a good example. The Star Grand publishes a room-count phrase on its own page, but The Darling’s official pages we could reach do not give a verified count. For that reason, our rooms and suites page focuses on the published categories rather than promising a total. The same approach is used for Event Centre capacity, airport distance and other figures where the official page does not provide a number.
Some details also conflict between official pages. The Darling Spa hours are not treated as fixed across the site, because the published spa page and hotel page do not match. On the The Darling Spa page we tell you that hours vary and that you should check directly with the spa before setting your treatment time.
Dates, changes and regulatory notes
This site is maintained as a dated editorial record, not as a live hotel operations feed. Restaurant line-ups, bar names, transport notices, parking rules and room descriptions can change. When a page depends on a dated public notice or a published change, the wording is kept plain and close to the source.
The Star Sydney's casino licence remains suspended (since 2022). NICC (25 September 2026): the Minister amended the Casino Control Regulation 2019 to extend the term of the manager, Nick Weeks, until 30 June 2027; 'Mr Weeks will continue to hold the casino licence for The Star Pty Limited ... allowing the casino to continue operating gaming facilities while its licence remains suspended.'
That sentence is included because it affects how the broader venue should be described. It is not used to speculate about your hotel stay. The pages about the full review, restaurants, bars and the spa stay with what is published for those guest-facing parts of the property.
Requests and contact
The request desk is for accommodation and spa-stay enquiries. You can ask for dates, a preferred hotel, a published room category, a harbour-side preference, a high-floor preference, or a spa element. A preference is not a promise; it is passed on or checked against availability.
The site does not take card details in the request form. It also does not guarantee rates, room allocation, access to facilities or restaurant seats. If your request becomes a confirmed stay, any booking relationship is with the hotel or booking partner, not with this editorial site. The commercial model is explained on how this site earns.
For operational matters such as lost property, venue entry, restaurant bookings already made with The Star, or official hotel policies, you should use the official The Star Sydney channels. For an editorial or booking-request question that fits this site, start with the request a room or spa stay form and include the dates, number of adults, and the part of the stay you most care about.
