Spa weekend note
A two-night spa weekend at The Star Sydney
For a two-night stay at The Star Sydney, you are choosing between two hotels at one Pyrmont address, then shaping the weekend around water, treatments, dinner and the harbour. The plan below keeps to what the property publishes: The Darling Spa on Level 2, the pool on Level 5, the restaurants on site, and the light rail close by.

Choose the room before you choose the rhythm
Begin with the hotel, because it changes the mood of the weekend more than the itinerary does. The Darling publishes The Darling Rooms, Jewel Suites, Adored Suites, Stellar Suites and Penthouses. It also places The Darling Spa within the hotel, on Level 2, which makes a treatment day feel simple: lift, robe, treatment room, tea lounge, then back upstairs or out to the pool.
The Star Grand publishes Superior King Room, Superior Twin Room, Premium Suite, Royal Suites, Star Suites and Penthouses, with The Star Grand Hotel and Residences also publishing apartment-style suites separately. If you prefer to make the room a base rather than the centre of the weekend, this side of the property may be the easier brief. Check-in is published as 3:00pm and check-out as 11:00am for both The Darling and The Star Grand, with express check-out available.
The hotel does not publish a verified total room count on the pages we could reach, so this plan avoids promising one. Instead, treat the request as a room-type conversation: one bed or two, a suite or a room, spa proximity, and any preference for a harbour side or a higher floor without treating either as guaranteed.
Friday: arrive softly, then keep dinner close
The address is 80 Pyrmont Street, Pyrmont NSW 2009, Sydney, Australia. If you arrive by public transport, the L1 Dulwich Hill line stops at The Star, and ferries from Circular Quay stop at wharves a few minutes’ walk away; the F4 Pyrmont Bay service stops at Pyrmont Bay Wharf and is described as a five-minute walk. If you are driving, the property publishes car park entrances at 55 Pirrama Road and 2 Edward Street, and notes no parking for vehicles over 2.0m.
For the first evening, keep the plan low-friction. You have several published restaurant choices within the complex, so you do not need to add a taxi or a second address. Sokyo is listed for contemporary Japanese cuisine. BLACK Bar & Grill is described as a classic steakhouse featuring wood-fired favourites. Cucina Porto publishes simple, honest Italian food. Rumble is listed as a modern contemporary take on South East Asian cuisine with a Thai influence. Harvest Buffet publishes breakfast, lunch and dinner hours, while the café court and casual venues give you easier options if the arrival day runs late.
If you want to see the wider list before you decide, use our restaurants page rather than trying to solve dinner from the lobby. For a spa weekend, the first night does not need to carry the whole stay. A reserved dinner, a short walk towards Darling Harbour, and an early night are enough.
Saturday morning: the pool, then the spa
Put the pool first if your weekend is about slowing the pace. The Darling publishes a 25m outdoor pool on Level 5, open 8am–8pm daily and heated to 26 degrees. The Star Grand publishes a harbour-view pool on Level 5, heated to 26 degrees, with The Star Grand Gym and Pool open from 6am–9pm daily. For The Star Grand, under-16s are to be accompanied. For the detail you need before packing, our separate note on the pool keeps the published hours and access wording in one place.
After that, move the day towards The Darling Spa. The spa is published as being on Level 2 at The Darling, with 11 treatment rooms plus two couples suites, a steam room, Darling Spa jacuzzi, boutique gym and a relaxation/tea lounge. The spa page also refers to the outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi on Level 5 for spa guests.
Hours vary between official pages, so check directly with the spa before you fix the treatment time. One official spa page gives Sun–Thu 10:00am–6:00pm and Fri–Sat 10:00am–7:00pm, while a hotel page gives 9:30am–7:00pm Mon–Sun. If you want to book on the official site, use The Darling Spa booking page.
Saturday afternoon: leave space around the treatment
A spa stay works best when you do not crowd it. If you book a treatment late morning or early afternoon, leave a clear margin on both sides. The published spa facilities include a relaxation/tea lounge, steam room and jacuzzi, so your timing should allow for more than the treatment itself. If you are booking as a pair, the two couples suites are the relevant published detail to mention in the request.
For the room brief, be precise rather than poetic. Ask for The Darling if you want the spa in the same hotel. Ask for The Star Grand if its room categories suit your budget or party better. If you are comparing categories across both hotels, the rooms and suites page lays out the published names without adding unverified counts or invented views.
The Darling Gym is published as being on Level 2 within the spa, open 24 hours daily, with under-16s not permitted. The Star Grand Gym and Pool is published as open from 6am–9pm daily on Level 5. If a gym session matters to the weekend, match the hotel choice to the facility you expect to use, then confirm the current access arrangements before you arrive.
Saturday night: choose one clear dinner plan
For the second night, make dinner the anchor rather than the start of a longer schedule. Sokyo, BLACK Bar & Grill, Cucina Porto and Rumble give you different styles within the published list. If you want something more casual, Harvest Buffet is on Level 1 and publishes dinner from 5–10pm daily, while Food Quarter, the café court and other casual listings sit elsewhere in the complex.
The bar list is also on site, but for this kind of weekend you may want to keep it measured. Published bar names include 24/7 Sports Bar, Cherry, Rock Lily, Jade Rabbit, Black Bar, Sokyo Bar and G&Tea. Cherry is described with cocktails and city skyline views; Rock Lily is listed with live music; Jade Rabbit is described as the new casino bar. For a calmer order of evening, read the bars page before you decide what belongs after dinner.
The Star Sydney's casino licence remains suspended (since 2022). NICC (25 September 2026): the Minister amended the Casino Control Regulation 2019 to extend the term of the manager, Nick Weeks, until 30 June 2027; 'Mr Weeks will continue to hold the casino licence for The Star Pty Limited ... allowing the casino to continue operating gaming facilities while its licence remains suspended.' The casino is a physical venue at the property; online casino play is not offered through this site.
Sunday: harbour air before check-out
On Sunday, use the harbour before the day becomes logistical. The property is in Pyrmont on Darling Harbour, so a morning walk can be simple: water, bridges, the city in general terms, then back for check-out. If you want a more deliberate route, our Darling Harbour note keeps the walk close to the hotel and avoids turning the morning into a list of errands.
Check-out is published as 11:00am, with express check-out available. If your treatment is on Sunday rather than Saturday, check the spa hours directly and leave enough time between treatment, shower, packing and departure. The official hotel and spa hub is The Star Sydney hotels and spa page, but a request can be more useful when you already know your preferred room category, treatment day and dinner pattern.
A good two-night brief is short: dates, two adults or the correct party size, The Darling or The Star Grand, preferred category, whether you want a couples spa treatment, and any notes about the pool, dinner or arrival by light rail. You are not asking the hotel to guess the weekend for you. You are giving it a clean shape.
